Your 6-day Tanzania adventure begins with morning pickup in Arusha, followed by a scenic 2-hour drive through open pastoral Maasai plains to Tarangire National Park. Renowned as the ‘Sanctuary of Elephants,’ Tarangire boasts ancient baobab trees and a permanent river valley attracting thousands of migratory animals.
Spend the day tracking massive elephant families, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and tree-climbing lions. Enjoy a picnic lunch overlooking the river before an afternoon game drive.
In the late afternoon, proceed to your camp or lodge in Tarangire or nearby for dinner and overnight rest.

After breakfast, depart Tarangire and ascend into the cool, mist-covered Ngorongoro Highlands. Enjoy panoramic viewpoints overlooking the massive Ngorongoro Caldera before descending down onto the boundless golden plains of Serengeti National Park.
Pass through the Naabi Hill Gate and embark on an afternoon predator-tracking game drive through the Seronera River Valley, famed for resident leopards lounging in acacia trees, prides of lions on rocky kopjes, and vast herbivore herds. Full Day Wildlife Safari in Serengeti
Dedicate an entire day to exploring the legendary endless plains of the Serengeti. Begin with a sunrise game drive when predators like cheetahs, lions, and leopards are actively hunting in the cool dawn air (travelers can also opt for a sunrise hot air balloon flight with a champagne bush breakfast).
Explore the Seronera River system, hippo pools, and towering granite kopjes. Track resident herds of wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, topis, and elephants before stopping for a bush picnic lunch under an acacia umbrella.

Descend 600 meters (2,000 feet) early in the morning onto the floor of the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater—an unbroken volcanic amphitheater sheltering over 25,000 large wild animals. Spend an exhilarating morning and afternoon touring open grasslands, acacia woodlands, and the shores of Lake Magadi alive with pink flamingos.
This is your best opportunity to track the critically endangered black rhino alongside giant bull tuskers, lion prides, hyenas, and hippos at the Ngoitoktok Springs picnic site. Will You See the Great Migration on the 6-Day Tanzania Safari?
The migration is a year-round loop, not a single event: calving on the southern plains from December to March, the trek north and west from April to June, and the Mara River from July to October.
This route is based in Central Serengeti (Seronera), the park’s predator capital, where lions, leopards and cheetahs live all year. Depending on the month the herds may be close by or further away — tell us your dates and we’ll position the route.

A year-round route — but the season changes everything.
June – October (Dry Season)
Short grass and shrinking water sources concentrate wildlife around rivers and waterholes — the easiest game viewing of the year.
December – March (Green Season)
Warm, green and quieter, with excellent birdlife and the calving season in the southern Serengeti.
April – May (Long Rains)
April and May bring the long rains. Some roads become muddy and slow and a few remote camps close, but the landscapes are green and quieter.

This was such an amazing trip that covered the Ngorongoro crater area with all its wildlife roaming freely, the Serengeti and the migration of the wildebeest crossing over into Kenya. It links Tarangire, the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara in a loop, so you see very different landscapes and wildlife without driving back over the same roads.
Yes, as an optional extra (USD 450–590 per person). Balloons launch at dawn and float over the plains before a champagne bush breakfast, after which you rejoin your guide. We suggest scheduling it on Day 3. Book it in advance, as places are limited.
Budget camping uses public campsites, with a dedicated safari cook travelling with you. Mid-range lodges and tented camps are permanent, with ensuite bathrooms and dining areas.
Bring US dollars printed after 2006, crisp and untorn — older or damaged notes are often refused. ATMs are available in Arusha and Karatu, and many lodges accept cards.
The drive back reaches Arusha in the late afternoon. Book an evening departure from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), about an hour from Arusha — send us your flight time and we will plan the final day around it.
