Everything you need for a seamless day — and the few things to bring or budget for yourself.
Excellent — the forest reserve and lake edge host over a hundred bird species, from kingfishers to herons and weavers. Mornings are best, when the water is calm and the birds are most active.
Very gentle — the rim walk is a flat, shaded forest trail, and the canoeing is calm since motorised boats are banned. It suits all ages and fitness levels.
Swimming isn’t permitted — the lake is a protected reserve and home to wildlife. You’ll enjoy the water by canoe instead, which is the highlight anyway.
Yes — being so close to town and only a half day, it combines perfectly with an afternoon Arusha City Tour for a full and varied day.
