The best months are the cool dry winter from June to October, and the warm dry window from January to March. In both, sea visibility is excellent, humidity is low and malaria risk is reduced. Avoid April and May, when the heavy southwest monsoon brings sustained rain.
All foreign visitors must buy the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC) inbound insurance — $44 per person — in advance via the official ZIC portal. Your own travel policy cannot substitute for it, and you must show the ZIC entry QR code at customs to avoid delays.
