Questions

Frequently asked questions

Very much so — it’s only 2–2.5 hours from Arusha on tarmac, so you get a full 6-hour game drive and are back for dinner. It’s one of the best value single-day safaris in the north.

The dry season, June to October, is best — herds of up to 300 gather along the Tarangire River as other water sources dry up. The green season is quieter for game but superb for birds.

Four of them — elephants, lions, leopards and buffalo. Wild rhinos aren’t resident, so for the full set you’d pair Tarangire with Ngorongoro.

Neutral, light clothing, a hat and sunscreen, a zoom camera or binoculars, and small cash for tips. Permits, lunch, water and transport are all included.
